Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension held in the deeper layers of the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method, used respectfully for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, or past lingering injuries.
Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating specific restrictions that affect movement within our daily lives. The work involves releasing adhesions (muscles that are stuck like glue together) that lessen our performing certain functions. Restrictions use up a lot of energy, holding together the tension within us and damping our overall sense of wellbeing. The goal is to restore greater range of motion thereby, improving your overall sense of ease.
Fascia i.e. connective tissue is a very thin sheath that covers (wraps), interconnects and holding us together and giving us our range motion or lack thereof between all muscles, other structures, and even organs of the body. Myofascial Release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to decrease pain and increase range of motion thereby, restoring the fascial glide that aids in our movement.
Somatic movement uses a custom-tailored approach to improve your body awareness and movement skills. This practice inevitably leads to a stronger mind/body connection, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement and interaction with self in the world.
Your body has specific areas called pressure points, "hot spots" that are usually areas of repetitive stress or strains done from overuse. There are some points that everyone experiences as sore, but it is not a steadfast rule that one-point fits all. So, the body "hugs" these tensions, tightening areas that can radiate out like spokes on a wheel involving and effecting other areas of the body. In each session, I find and apply the right technique for the right issue as we are all unique and no one body has the same cookie cutter treatment to them as there are many ways to approach an issue.
CranioSacral Therapy is a powerful yet subtle technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, mental stress and helping ease concussions by optimizing the restrictions in the soft tissue around the skull and along the spinal muscles. Developed by physicians William Sutherland and John Upledger, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy gently and rhythmically moves the lymph through the body, relieving pressure (especially in swollen areas) and enhancing the function of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, Lymphatic Drainage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
